HAKU COLLECTIVE ARTIST
I grew up listening to “‘Ōpae ē” recorded by the luminary IZ Kamakawiwo‘ole and recall singing this children’s lullaby as a keiki (child). It is the resources of our Kahawai (streams) to the Moana (ocean) that defines who we are as a sustainable people of our ‘āina (land). These recources play a pivotal role in our Hawaiian circle of life – from ‘öpae, to the puhi, ‘opihi and the kūpe‘e. |
